Industry Competent Graduates

The recipient of Honorary Doctorate of Management for this year (2013) MMU Convocation is Tan Sri Abdul Halim Ali. His contributions as the Chief Secretary to the government for over four years is obvious, which demonstrating his passion and dedication of service to the country. Chief Secretary is the highest ranking of civil service post in the country.

Tan Sri has been greatly involved in the development of Putrajaya and Multimedia Super Corridor during his service under Tun Dr Mahathir's leadership as the Prime Minister. His contributions on the implementation and realization of the vision of MSC and Cyber City has now become solid and real.

Tun gave advice to MMU graduates to face greater challenges ahead to be more involved in building the industry of multimedia and ICT. That is the area of MMU specialization.

Tun praised MMU for being at the upfront as a private university to contribute to the development of this country. The university - industry partnership is greatly encouraged by Tun. He mentioned that MMU collaboration with industries are constantly bonded and resulted mentionable outcomes of the partnership.

This year speech from Management Doctorate is much concentrated with the experiences of management concepts, issues and challenges, which I think Tun has a lot of experience to be told. Within the short speech and his biography in Convocation booklet, the space is not enough to record his experience. Tun has more to share with his current involvement as the Chairman of Malaysia Building Society Bhd, Chairman of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and Chairman of the Multimedia Development Sdn Bhd. He is also sits on the Board of ESSO Malaysia Bhd, IJM Corporation Sdn Bhd.

To be industry relevant and competent,  again and again the advice to graduates is to be  more creative and digitally talented in creations and to make positive history.
